This site was conceived and realised in 2020 with the voluntary professional work of the collaborators of Ossigeno per l’informazione and with the valued assistance of family members and friends of the journalists killed, Foundations and associations in their memory, to all of whom go sincere thanks for their responsiveness and help in finding documents and information. Thanks also to the press agency l’Ansa for granting material from its photographic archive.

The out-of-print book “Memorial Day for Journalists Victims of Mafia and Terrorism” compiled in 2008 by the President of the Italian Journalists Union, Guido Columba is the basis on which the entire archive was built and from which numerous texts are taken with the addition of the necessary updates and insights. Thanks therefore to the UNCI (the National Union of Italian Journalists) and a grateful thought to the memory of Guido Columba who in 2008 initiated a way of collective remembrance of the journalists killed showing how all these victims can be remembered together, how it can be done without exaggeration and without rhetoric and why it is necessary do it in the interests of the profession of journalism. A general thanks goes to all those who in various ways have kept this concept alive. Special thanks to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Dunja Mjatovic, who on the 3rd May 2020 welcomed the opening of this site with a message in which she shared its spirit and aims.
